The determined Thérèse trades in pigs. In her 45-year-old Mercedes truck, she transports 41 pigs from the Senegalese countryside, via Gambia, to Guinea-Bissau. A road trip documentary that exposes both the visible and invisible boundaries of trade, faith, and survival in West Africa. Commentary Regisseurs Niels Hoornaert and Halewijn Timmerman have been active in Senegal themselves for more than a decade and spent years in the informal economy of pig farming: they raised animals, negotiated prices, crossed borders, and experienced from the inside the vulnerability and the resilience of this economy. In this observational documentary, they follow Thérèse, a powerful female transporter in a male-dominated sector, and Blaise, a dedicated farmer for whom pigs are a source of income, but whose dreams reach much further than livestock farming — a man who brings people together in a natural way. An immersion into a world that is rarely documented, but crucial for regional survival and interregional trade.
