Kolo is the pet of Leopold II. Now that his owner is no longer there, Kolo struggles with the question of where he belongs. He puts this question to his audience: the commission for foreign affairs. Who or what am I to you? When am I allowed to feel at home with you? Our identity, who we become and are allowed to be, is co-determined by our environment, by others. What impact does this have on your sense of identity? And what if your environment is hostile to you? As in the case of colonialism or forced migration? Questions that occupy the main character Kolo. Many migrants face the same dilemma as Kolo.
