Fri, 13 Nov 2026 · 20:00
Art Base, Brussels
‘From one shore to the other’ Héléna Morag: violin, vocals Nabil Naïr: clarinet, ney Georgi Dimitrov: kanun Tavern music, from the Meyhane to the Café Aman Diyar Diyar, "from one shore to the other", sketches the allegory of a braid that connects the shores of the Mer Egée to those of Marmara, intertwines languages, and makes these popular tavern songs resonate, from the Meyhane to the Café Aman, influenced by the presence of various cultural minorities under the Empire Ottoman. A journey between popular songs from Smyrna, Istanbul, repertoires of Ottoman classical music, and Judeo-Spanish songs. After several meetings during festivals and workshops in Greece and Spain around this music, Héléna, Georgi, and Nabil come together to share their common passion and create Diyar Diyar in 2024. https://www.facebook.com/diyardiyar.music https://www.instagram.com/diyardiyar.music https://youtu.be/b70EjxbNCe4?si=hVExaZpIjzReo3mD Art Base, Friday 13/11/26 8 p.m., 20E (reduced 15E for students under 26 and jobseekers), 29 rue des Sables Zandstraat, 1000 Brussels, https://www.art-base.be.
