From Friday, Oct 02 ‘26 until Sunday, Oct 04 ’26, Genk - in the heart of Limburg - is once again the host of the 18th Internationale Koorfestival Vlaanderen-Genk. On the C-mine site where the past and the charm of old mining buildings go hand in hand with contemporary art and creativity, more than 1,000 voices will resound for three days!
The showpiece of the festival is undoubtedly the international choir competition on Saturday, Oct 03 and Sunday, Oct 04 ’24. Take up the challenge and compete as a choir with international top choirs, e.g., based on a set new choral work by the Flemish composer Hans Helsen. An internationally renowned jury will be allowed to announce on Sunday, Oct 04 ’26 who wins the prizes.
On Sunday, Oct 04 ’26 in the afternoon, C-mine will be transformed into “Zin(g)-in Genk”!
Competition choirs, Flemish choirs together with dozens of other multicultural musical ensembles, both from inside or outside Genk, will be set up at the most beautiful locations of the entire C-mine site – the large and small hall, the ruin, the Barenzaal, studio Pieter Stockmans, LUCA, the brand new JESTER site, …
It will be a fascinating mix of choir concerts and 'musical atmosphere moments'. C-mine will be transformed into one big singing happening. It will be an unforgettable unique experience for every Flemish choir. For sure! .
