Is there such a thing as a right to reproduce? Who gets to start a family? What even is a family? Family Triangle is a sharp-witted attempt to redraw the concept of the traditional nuclear family. The familial triangle of Wei-Yao Hung, Chien-Han Hung, and Tseng Ray includes brothers, lovers, aspiring parents, and a donor. In their home country of Taiwan, adoption by same-sex couples is not legally recognised. In the absence of a legal framework, they explore the moral, social, and political implications of an alternative family scenario. The trio alternates between documentary fragments and re-enactments. Starting from their personal questions, they become both the subject of, and witness to, their own story. This intertwines art with the everyday. What starts out as an intimate conversation grows into a broader debate about bioethics, rights, and family values. Family Triangle holds up a mirror to the audience, questioning the boundaries of intimacy and kinship.
