Oko Yono - We are stardust, we are golden

Annelies Van Dinter (Echo Beatty), Myrthe Luyten (Astronaute), Birsen Uçar (Hydrogen Sea) and Caitlin Talbut (BLUAI) bundle their four unique voices in a celebration of female artists from the 60s and 70s. In that period, the second feminist wave flourished, partly inspired by the civil rights movements and the protests against the Vietnam War. It was a time of activism, of sexual freedom, of experiment and innovation in the field of art and music. And there was hope! Today, in which women's rights are globally increasingly under pressure and war rhetoric seems to want to win over pacifism, the women's power band Oko Yono wants to bring a much-needed ode to the revolutionary women of then. Think of the raw power of Janis Joplin and Patti Smith, the liquid poetry of Joni Mitchell, the trippy psychedelia of Jefferson Airplane, and the lyricism of, among others, The Ronettes and Nina Simone.
