In an era of jazz clubs, vaudeville, and headlines, we follow the story of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly: two showgirls who end up behind bars for murder, but are determined to turn their crime into fame. With the help of the corrupt prison warden 'Mama' Morton and the slick lawyer Billy Flynn, they play the game of public opinion and discover that in Chicago, everything revolves around opportunities and illusion. The musical Chicago is one of the longest-running Broadway shows of all time and has been awarded numerous prizes. The piece premiered in 1975 in New York and received a successful revival in 1996 that can still be seen on Broadway today. Worldwide, Chicago grew into an absolute audience favorite, and in 2002, the Oscar-winning film version was even released. L&J Theater is now bringing this legendary production to the Kempen, with rousing music, tight choreographies, and unforgettable numbers like “All That Jazz”, “Cell Block Tango” and “Razzle Dazzle” in a Flemish version.
