Re: Echoes of Chimaera

What happens when you don't just play the classical violin repertoire, but take it apart and rebuild it? In Re: , Lotte and Fedra start from music by, among others, Eugène Ysaÿe, Jean-Marie Leclair, Sergei Prokofiev, and Hans Zimmer. Familiar sounds from the classical tradition appear, but are distorted, repeated, and layered. With live electronics, loops, and improvisation, the music grows in the moment, where two violins do not form a fixed duet, but a changeable dialogue. What once began in a student-teacher context has grown into an artistic collaboration, in which dialogue, experiment, and shared curiosity are central. Together, Lotte and Fedra are founders of the interdisciplinary collective Chimaera. With Re: , they provide an answer to what a violin can be today, within their own Chimaera language. Throughout the 2026-2027 season, we will travel to various Bornem living rooms. Young promising musicians at the beginning of their careers will take the stage there together with their (former) teacher from the Bornemse Academie for Music, Word & Dance.
