The boundary markers of the Ypres aldermen and the lock of Boezinge

A while ago, a boundary marker of the Ieper aldermen was discovered in the berm of the old Ieperlee. This recently received a new spot on the bike path along the Ieperlee canal. Discover this new heritage site and also the lock of Boezinge. A few years ago, an old boundary marker with the double cross of Ieper was found in a difficult-to-access place in the Ieperlee berm. Such markers stood on the one hand on the medieval city boundary along the most important approach roads, but also along the old Ieperlee which was largely dug at the expense of the city of Ieper. In the lock keeper's house, we give a PowerPoint presentation (approx. 30 min.) about these Ieper boundary markers, followed by a visit to the lock with a word of explanation about the operation of the locks and a walk to the place where the boundary marker has recently been shining again in all its glory. Accessibility: The walk is accessible for wheelchair users. The preceding lecture takes place in a room on the upper floor of the lock keeper's house which is only accessible via stairs.
