But for those who don’t know him yet: Donny Benét is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and born entertainer who breathes new life into 80’s disco, funk and synthpop with a wink and a healthy dose of craftsmanship. Of course, that’s not just because of his look (which is halfway between Italian crooner and 70s porn director), but mainly because of his steamy post-ironic grooves, perfect for fans of Down Under-comedians like Alex Cameron and Kirin J Callinan and for lovers of sultry Italo sounds. Hoewel The Don doesn’t take himself too seriously, but his music is anything but a joke: just try not to swoon for the retro-synthpop jams that Benét seemingly effortlessly pulls out of his sleeve.
