Jan Linssen - That's chic to me

“Limburgers are slow,” they say. Well, sjiek is mich dat (that's chic to me)! Because slow is not lazy. Slow is taking time, enjoying, observing and persevering. For fifteen years, Jan Linssen has been building his comedy career at his own rhythm and with his typical calm flair. Now the moment is there: his second performance, Sjiek is mich dat!, a warm ode to slowness, authenticity and his Limburg roots. But this show is not just about Limburg. Jan investigates how origin shapes us, and how we simultaneously try to break free from it. Recognizable for anyone who was born somewhere and sometimes balances between pride and the thought: “All chic, but how do I get out of here with all those canceled bus stops?” From his youth in Maaseik — with carnival, the big and small fair and the eternal what-will-the-neighbors-say mentality — Jan walks to today. Along the way, the coal mines, smurf pie, the Eburons and a handful of delicious prejudices pass by. Because how do others look at "us"? And how do we look at ourselves? Jan calls himself too sweet, too modest and sometimes also really too slow. But perhaps that is exactly his superpower. Jan is not only a comedian and performer; he is also a sought-after humor writer. He co-wrote popular radio and TV programs such as De Rechtvaardige Rechters and De Weekwatchers (Radio 2), Taboe (VRT) and Twee tot de Zesde Macht (VRT). In addition, he was the *head writer of the year-end conferences and various radio assignments for Kamal Kharmach for several years.
