1000 years of Sheltering, Praying, Trees and Bettering

Sun, 13 Sept 2026 · 15:00
Het Schrijn, Herent
Free
A wooden statue more than 500 years old. A door where Jewish children were smuggled inside. The first open-heart surgery on a calf. A selection of the secrets that this site harbors. And who is that remarkable lady walking there? After 1000 years in a few brushstrokes, we walk to 3 different places where anecdotes, objects and quiz questions bring history to life. Afterwards, you are very welcome to stay for a drink and/or to walk in the garden that has been recognized as heritage because of the large collection of ancient trees. Today's program is a copy of the neighborhood afternoon in February, which was received with great enthusiasm. Although this activity is not specifically aimed at families with children, they are very welcome. There is a lot of movement and a lot to see, the activity is entertaining for everyone. Practical info: We start at 3:00 PM at the beech tree in front of the Witte Huis (see photo).
