mòs ensemble is a Belgian-Italian band with a love for border areas between genres, where the lush arrangements of voices and instruments can render maximally. The eight-piece ensemble is coming to present their fourth full album: a celebration of life in all its unpredictability, viewed with a loving eye for the banal.
The voices and lyrics of Roos Denayer (Rosa Butsi), Marta Del Grandi, Astrid Creve (Arra Di Allas) and Kobe Boon (Steiger, Volpe) form the beating heart of the music. The erratic playing of Artan Bulesjkaj (Plain Songs, Anemic Cinema), Ambroos De Schepper (Whoman, Bandler Ching), Benjamin Hermans (Elemy) and Simon Raman (Steiger, Ivy Falls) keeps the swarming constantly in motion.
Voices, reeds, guitar, mandolin, synths, bass, and drums together color a shared canvas on which feeling, imagination, and interpretation are constantly intertwined. mòs ensemble tells stories about people who try to understand themselves, their place in the world, and in relation to others. It is a story that is often told, but rarely presented with this combination of imagination, skill, and collective vision.
With their unique band sound, mòs ensemble balances between avant-pop, improvisation, and eclectic folk. The music feels simultaneously organic and adventurous: sometimes playfully chaotic like Tune-Yards, then again narrative and melodic in the spirit of Joanna Newsom.
Music as a breeding ground for spring dreams, for an idyllic adventure. — Jonas Boel
