Film: The secret agent

Brazil, 1977. Marcelo, a researcher at the university, is on the run after a conflict with an influential bureaucrat within the military dictatorship. He arrives in Recife, but soon realizes that the city is not the non-violent refuge he was looking for. With the award for best director and best actor, 'The Secret Agent' was the most awarded film in the Cannes 2025 competition. Rightly so, what a wonderfully subtle thriller this is. The director on duty is Kleber Mendonca Filho (Bacurau) who recreates the years of the Brazilian dictatorship with vivid colors and many details. He sprinkles it with action, unforgettable characters and fascinating side trips. The lead actor on duty is Wagner Moura, one of Brazil's most acclaimed actors. In his yellow beetle, he carefully putters into the film to then pull you into the film like a magnet.
