'In the distance, this view' is the second album of Abel Ghekiere. It is a celebration of beauty and sudden outbursts of euphoria and melancholy, hidden in the characteristic soft and fragile sound of Ghekiere’s music. Much more personal than on his debut record, he calls out to the world.
By working with voice samples and field recordings, the voice and improvisation are central. Sounds from outside are subtly interwoven with instruments, while conversations and memories act as a common thread through the compositions. The music was recorded very nomadically, in different places, with different people. Most parts were written and played by Abel Ghekiere himself but with guest contributions from, among others, Vitja Pauwels, Nicolas Rombauts, Leo Adamov, and Jan de Vroede, the record breaks open into a soft sound palette.
Another support act will be added in the coming weeks. Stay informed via our social media and website.
