Nieuw & Verbeterd production (2020) The film "Together we cycle" explores the landmark events that led to the rebirth of cycling culture in the Netherlands. Many think that cycling in the Netherlands is a natural phenomenon. However, until the 1970s, the evolution of mobility in the Netherlands followed global trends. Cycling had gone out of fashion and the future seemed promised to the car. All that remained was to adapt cities to the massive arrival of cars. Then, Dutch society took an unexpected turn. Against all odds, the Dutch continued to cycle. There is no simple answer to the question of why this happened in the Netherlands. Many factors, events, and circumstances, both social and political, played a decisive role. In "Together, we cycle," key players tell the story of the obstacle-strewn path that led to the current situation, where cycling has become an obvious choice for most citizens.
