Merode Festival - A. Haddad Trio, S. Leleux & M. Hermia

“Samenspel in tweevoud” (Interaction in twofold) Het Amber Haddad Trio starts from Arabic and Mediterranean traditions and connects them with influences from jazz and contemporary music. Central are the oud of Adil Benhsain and the voice of Amber Haddad, supported by a subtle interaction with double bassist Marijn Van Buel. The repertoire includes original compositions and arrangements, with attention to nuance, rhythm, and direct communication with the audience. Simon Leleux and Manuel Hermia in duo in dialogue. Percussion and wind instruments seek each other out in an open sound world in which rhythm and melody complement each other. Both projects show in their own way how meeting and exchange form the core of their music.
