Kit&Caboodle opens Oor om Oog Oor's concert season as Oog kicks off the new concert season in Filmhuis Klappei with a blockbuster of a bang. On our cafe stage we welcome Kit&Caboodle, a band that pairs the sound of an old time stringband with an irresistibly anarchistic soul. Steeped in a vagabond existence and activist spirit, they sing about nights along the tracks, the ghosts of the mountains, the gods of untouched forests, the pain of eternal farewell, and the high peaks and deep valleys of the human soul. But above all they have one mission: to make you dance. Dance with your pain, not in spite of that pain. After the concert we will screen Butterfly (Doug Wolens, 2000), a gripping documentary about environmental activist Julia "Butterfly" Hill, who spent no less than 738 days in the crown of an ancient redwood tree to protect it from logging. The film follows her remarkable action, but at the same time tells the story of a personal and spiritual quest, and raises the question of how much difference one determined human being can truly make.
