In the morning we drive by bus towards Germany.
In the unique location of the Gasometer in Oberhausen in the Ruhr area, the exhibition 'Mythos Wald' takes you to the fascinating forest areas all over the world. The exhibition shows award-winning photos and videos about the complex ecosystem of the global forest landscape, with the light installation of a gigantic tree as a highlight.
De Gasometer is an industrial monument without air conditioning and heating. Provide appropriate clothing.
We will have lunch in the center of Duisburg. You have the choice of: schnitzel with mushroom sauce and fried potatoes or a vegetable burger with potato wedges. Drinks at lunch are to be paid for yourself.
After lunch, we walk 1.5 km to the boat and take a cruise through the largest inland port in Europe, located at the mouth of the Ruhr in the Rhine. Every year, some 20,000 inland vessels and 25,000 trains call at the port. Afterward, you enjoy some free time in Duisburg.
The contrast between morning and afternoon could not be greater in this day trip, but both themes are part of our society and are indispensable.
On the outward journey, a short breakfast/toilet stop is provided in Sevenum (Netherlands).
