Pater Grégoire moved to East Congo in the late fifties. After independence, he experienced the dictatorship and the civil wars, while in Flanders, de-Christianization, materialism, and individualism continued to increase. Slowly, the familiar Flanders he had left behind faded. His home seemed to be nowhere anymore.
