Brecht Valckenaers with music by Ligeti and own work

Brecht Valckenaers plays Ligeti’s best-known and most demanding piano solo works: the miraculous Etudes. He makes an idiosyncratic selection from them, confronts Ligeti’s abundance with the static splendor of Morton Feldman, and also enters into a conversation with Ligeti again as a composer. Previously, Festival-artist-in-residence already brought programs around György Ligeti’s Musica Ricercata (of which the CD recording appeared in February) and around his music for two pianos (together with Jan Michiels, last year).
