Bolloheide and surroundings

Gids Danny takes you on a substantial 8 km landscape walk starting at the Bolloheide, the first officially recognized nature reserve of Tremelo-Baal. De Bolloheide is, incidentally, a vulnerable heath remnant. A remaining piece of heath that was once part of a much larger and vast heathland area. You can see it as a kind of living museum of what our regions used to look like. If Indien Natuurpunt Tremelo did not carry out systematic management work here, such as removing non-native tree species and grazing with goats, this piece of heath history would spontaneously disappear, and with it the various rare animal and plant species that find their home there and are tied to the heath biotope.
