Duo Yakara has its origins in Tongeren, the oldest city in Belgium. The ‘Yakara’, Gallic for Jeker, meanders through this city. In Caesar's time, Ambiorix was king of the Eburones, a Gallic tribe. The statue of the heroic Ambiorix stands proudly opposite the basilica of Tongeren. Zoals de Jeker meanders, just as the musical notes flow from the fingers of the musicians who took their first musical steps in this old city. Where in Japanese the term Yakara means ‘set’, ‘companion’, or ‘friend’, this duo will take you on a daring musical adventure: Debussy and friends. Violin: Bérénice Awouters Piano: Emmy Wils
