dilapidated farmhouse transformed into community center After a complete renovation of eight years, community center Haute Cense was officially put into use in July 2025 Stad Menen bought the heavily dilapidated farmhouse in the Grondwetstraat in 2017. The building was in a dilapidated state and urgently needed structural interventions to stop further decay. The renovation was carried out under the supervision of the AGB, which guarded the preservation of historical value and elements. The metamorphosis included: restoration of the 17th-century structure (1610), renovation of the roof and masonry, restoration of the facades, furnishing of the interior into meeting rooms that can be split up, integration of modern techniques without loss of heritage value. Practical info: Op Open Monumentendag September 10, 2023, the main building could be visited for the first time while the finishing was still ongoing. On Open Monument Day 2026, everyone can visit the finished Haute Cense.
