Frontier People Album release

Thu, 18 Feb 2027 · 20:30
Rataplan, Antwerp
€12–22
De Belgische guitarists Thomas Decock and Artan Buleshkaj found each other in 2024 in their shared love for Americana. During the musicians' spontaneous jams, their attention quickly shifted from jazz standards to folk and country influences, which led to the intimate long-player Plain Songs. W.E.R.F. records released the album in 2024. It was warmly received by press and radio and was, among other things, in the top 10 jazz releases of Knack that same year. Now a new adventure is in the pipeline: a dynamic quintet that is preparing to create a unique sound. Contrabassist Yannick Peeters and drummer Lionel Beuvens bring their versatile rhythm tandem, while saxophonist Werend van den Bossche (Dishwasher_) adds fresh energy with his research into the intersections between jazz and Appalachian folk. The conscious mix of experienced musicians and uninhibited, new talent ensures an exciting cross-pollination of influences and techniques. The new repertoire consists entirely of original work. The intimacy of Plain Songs remains palpable but gets a more powerful sound, with rock influences and a richer production. Thus, a band is created that not only builds on the past but also seeks its own voice in the present. That search takes shape on a new release at W.E.R.F. Records and is further explored in a documentary. In collaboration with Jazzlab. De Belgische guitarists Thomas Decock and Artan Buleshkaj found each other in 2024 in their shared love for Americana.
