Met Bach Works in Mysterious Ways invite Boho Strings and accordionist Gwen Cresens us for a surprising musical journey, in which Bach's timeless concertos merge with the warm, soulful sound of the accordion. Twee van Bachs powerful concertos for harpsichord are combined with the Basel concerto by Stravinsky, Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras no. 9 and the brand-new concerto Betsubara van Gwen Cresens. What connects all these works is not a uniform sound, but a shared drive: the need to give music meaning again and again. Bach rewrote himself. Stravinsky sought stability in form. Villa-Lobos made Bach a world citizen. And in Betsubara the same curiosity resonates: not preserving tradition by fixing it in place, but by letting it move.
