Compagnie Lodewijk/Louis is joining forces, just like last year, with the WILBER Bigband for a sizzling theater concert in which film noir comes to life live on stage. They return to their murder drama from 2007, my FLESH/MY blood, and dissect it mercilessly, sharply, rawly, and compellingly, while the music of Duke Ellington and Bert Joris increases the tension layer by layer. What begins as a look into the gut of a family grows into a bizarre trip along suffocating loyalty and the twisted, all-consuming love of a mother for her sons. Unconditional. Inescapable. The big band drives the pressure to the unbearable, to the moment when the steam boiler bursts: when the sons, in a desperate attempt to reclaim their lives, rush straight toward the inevitable end.
