"LIVING HERITAGES. Reinventing forms."

From September 6 to November 1, the PERSON gallery presents its new exhibition: LIVING HERITAGES. Reinventing forms. Avec Reinata Sadimba, sculptor artist from Mozambique and Raymond Tsham, artist from the Democratic Republic of Congo, this exhibition brings together two major figures of contemporary African art whose practices, although deeply singular, meet in the same reflection on memory, transmission and dialogue between cultures. One shapes clay, the other draws with a ballpoint pen; one draws from the Makonde ceramic tradition of Mozambique, the other reinterprets the sculpted heritages of Central Africa. Both transform living cultural heritages into a resolutely contemporary artistic language. Their works question the way in which narratives, know-how and symbols cross time, reinvent themselves and continue to nourish today's identities. Chez Reinata Sadimba, sculpture becomes the place of a reflection on the feminine condition, resilience and transmission, where clay carries intimate as well as collective memory. Chez Raymond Tsham, drawing stages the meeting of African and European heritages, inviting a renewed look at the exchanges that shape common histories. Beyond the diversity of their mediums, these two artists share the same desire to go beyond the borders between tradition and contemporary creation. Their works do not just preserve a heritage: they reinvent it, confront it with the present and open it to new readings. They thus testify to the vitality of African cultures and their ability to dialogue with the world, while affirming the creative force of memory.
