The Bill Stewart trio, with Larry Grenadier and Walter Smith III, counts among the most exciting groups on the current jazz and improvised music scene. In recent years, the group has performed twice for a one-week residency at the famous New York club Village Vanguard and has recorded an album titled Band Menu. Bill Stewart and Larry Grenadier share a long musical history, notably within the groups of Pat Metheny (from 1999 to 2000, then again in 2008) and John Scofield (1996-1997), as well as in numerous recording sessions. Bill Stewart met Walter Smith III during a recording session for the pianist Danny Grissett and was immediately won over by the saxophonist's singular sound and his very personal approach to music.
