Bart Defoort Tenor sax Victor Da Costa Gitaar Jos Machtel Bass Jan De Haas Drums The “Bart Defoort & Victor Da Costa Quartet “ has existed since 2005, now 20 years! Bart and Victor share a great interest and deep passion for the music developed by the many great Jazz musicians and composers from the 1930s-’60s. They created the universal musical language within tonal and modal Jazz, in addition to composing an enormously rich, challenging, and timeless repertoire. The great inspiration from this tradition means a kind of springboard for the quartet for their own compositions, their creative improvisations, and their musical conversations. The repertoire therefore consists of a mix of their own compositions, alongside music written by jazz legends and “standards” from the “American Songbook”. In this, catchy and swinging pieces are alternated with moving ballads. The creative and enthusiastic musical interaction between these 4 experienced musicians is a pleasure to witness.
