t was just an accident is the new film by Iranian master Jafar Panahi. The film won the Gouden Palm at the Filmfestival van Cannes in 2025, was submitted by France for the Oscar nominations, and was, like Panahi’s previous films, made without the permission of the Iranian regime. The film is a thriller in which revenge, humor, and humanity come together. Vahid is working in the garage when a customer walks in on a quiet evening, having problems with his car after a small accident. Vahid is startled when he thinks he recognizes Eghbal, the officer who tortured him in prison. He smells revenge, but at the same time, doubts increase. Together with a number of fellow sufferers, he desperately tries to bring the truth to light. It leads them from perilous to comical situations, but how do they know for sure they have the right man? A break is provided during the film. The bar of Roxy Palace is open before/during/after the break.
