Orgelconcert Ignace Michiels (Bruges)

Ignace Michiels (°1963) studied organ, piano and harpsichord at the conservatory of his hometown Bruges. In 1986 he became a laureate at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven. He perfected himself successively at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and the Conservatoire National in Paris, where he obtained the Prix d’Excellence. At the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, he obtained the Hoger Diploma for organ. Ignace Michiels is a teacher at the Bruges Conservatory and teaches the organ course at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent. He is a regular guest professor in Europe and America. He was conductor of the Bruges oratorio choir Cantores for 15 years. He is also the founder-conductor of the vocal ensemble ‘De Wijngaard’. Since 1991, Ignace Michiels has been titular organist of the Saint-Salvator Cathedral in Bruges and organizer of the Kathedraalfestival Brugge. He performs on almost all continents and, in addition to many CD productions, has made several recordings for radio stations.
