In 2027, Philip Glass will reach the ripe old age of 90. To mark the occasion, we are delighted to welcome French pianist Vanessa Wagner, a leading interpreter of minimalist music. With rare precision and sensitivity, she brings a sense of freshness and intimacy to this repertoire. During this concert, she will perform a selection from the Piano Studies by Philip Glass, one of the key figures of minimalism. Vanessa Wagner is an iconic figure in the French music scene and has been exploring the repertoire of minimalist composers for many years. On the InFiné label, she dedicated four albums both to pioneers of this movement (John Adams, Meredith Monk, Brian Eno and Ryūichi Sakamoto) and to a new generation of composers, including Caroline Shaw, Bryce Dessner and Nico Muhly. Her recent album, dedicated to Philip Glass’s complete Studies, marks the culmination of this artistic journey. Each study is a world unto itself, with its own narrative arc and character, and can also be experienced independently of the whole. Performed live, they come to life as an intense listening experience in which repetition, nuance and timing take centre stage.
