String and percussion explore Pierre Fontenelle and Max Charue the interface between cello and percussion. The program moves freely between Bach and contemporary compositions. Familiar music appears in a new guise, while recent works play with timbre, rhythm, and unexpected sound sources. Percussion is not limited here to classical instruments, but also appears in everyday materials, which are given their own place within the musical whole. The cello remains a recognizable voice, sometimes supporting, sometimes searching, always in dialogue. Between string and percussion is a concert in which attention to sound and curiosity about form come together. Fontenelle and Charue show how music can arise in the space between instruments, between tradition and experiment, and how new tensions and meanings become visible precisely there.
