Het Nathan Surquin 4tet is a contemporary jazz ensemble that brings together four musicians with diverse cultural backgrounds. Their music balances between sensitive and dynamic, with a strong focus on the dialogue between cultures, shared emotions, and the depth of human encounters. During this performance, the group presents the music from their debut album Ambre. This album is a sincere ode to special encounters in life: a fleeting conversation during a trip, a cup of coffee with a stranger, or the deep bond between a father and his daughter. The musicians translate these intimate moments flawlessly into a warm and layered sound. The true strength of this project lies in the cultural diversity. Each musician brings their own musical roots and a unique artistry. Thanks to this natural alchemy, a profound jazz sound is created that you simply have to experience live. Leader of the quartet is trombonist Nathan Surquin. He studied at the Brussels Conservatorium under Phil Abraham and continued his studies in Rotterdam. Surquin plays, among others, in the trombone ensemble of Nabou Claerhout and in the Dutch band of Loek van den Berg. There he met pianist Aseo Friesacher, who is currently considered one of the greatest up-and-coming talents of Dutch jazz. On bass we hear the Italiaan Federico Stocchi, and drummer Daniel Jonkers — who made an impression in the club last year with the intimate trio Sumooi — completes the line-up.
