With the repertoire of Classic Female Blues & Jazz stars like Bessie Smith, Victoria Spivey, Ma Rainy Memphis Minnie, and Merline Johnson, L’Escaut Blues lets this somewhat forgotten branch of music history flourish again. Authentic and powerful as if the 1920s had only just begun. During this concert, she and her group L’ Escaut Blues present their first album: I Used To Be Sweet , with a mix of furious, mischievous, melancholic, and combative passages. It seems to fit Nette like a glove: she not only has a golden voice, with which she pays every honor to the blues divas of 100 years ago, but also a presence with which she captivates every room. And through her journey through the 20s, you also hear how jazz gradually emerged from the blues along the Mississippi New Orleans. Moreover, Nette is surrounded by 6 excellent blues/jazz musicians, who time and again get the halls where they perform wildly enthusiastic with their infectious music, however sad it may sometimes be in content.
