SENSUAL TANGO SOUNDS & PASSIONATE DANCE
On Saturday, August 1, we will close our 2026 aperitif concerts at the Drongenplein in style – entirely dedicated to the tango.
The duo Silbando brings the nostalgic tango repertoire from the period 1900–1970 to life. From classics like “La Cumparsita” and “El Choclo” to work by Astor Piazzolla, Osvaldo Pugliese and Aníbal Troilo – passion, melancholy and rhythm are central.
Silbando – with Geertje (melody) and Danny Martien (accompaniment) – wants to introduce everyone to the warm, characterful sound of their instrument. The name “Silbando” refers to a well-known song by Sebastián Piana. Both musicians take lessons at the tango class of Patrick Van Keirsbilck in Ghent and share a deep fascination for this rich musical heritage.
As if that were not enough, Pol Van Assche is bringing a tango initiation to the square. Feel like taking the first steps yourself? This is the chance to not only hear the music, but also to feel and experience it.
Come and enjoy a southern aperitif moment full of music, movement and atmosphere. Let yourself be carried away to Buenos Aires… right at the Drongenplein.
See you then!
