Voor The Lazy Frank Orchestra jazz and blues form the basis, but with a good dash of idiosyncrasy. In their new project ‘Deep Blue(s) sea’, the trio starts from the origin of the blues, namely the songs that were sung on the American cotton fields to make the heavy work somewhat bearable.
In Europa a similar phenomenon can be found among the fishermen. There too, songs were created that helped to alleviate the harsh conditions. The Lazy Frank Orchestra therefore went in search of French, Frisian, English, and Dutch-language fishermen's songs, which they transformed into authentic, solid blues.
