“Split happens” 1994. Kurt Cobain dies, the PlayStation is released, and in an unremarkable Flemish village, four girls are born. In their teenage years, they start helping out in Bowling Buffalo and at the age of thirty, all four of them still work there. Meanwhile, they have started to become part of the permanent furniture. They still smell like teen spirit and still play Crash Bandicoot while they bicker about their loose love lives, drink milkshakes, and smoke cigarettes. When one of them announces her departure out of nowhere, a story unfolds about ambition, loyalty, and whether or not to pursue dusty dreams. All those years, the four women have lived in a wonderful sense of timelessness, under the dimmed light of the retro bowling decor and their own unbridled imagination, but now that someone has dragged the concept of ‘finiteness’ in unannounced, all the pins fall in record time. Bowling Buffalo is a Wildcard performance by Compagnie Cecilia, played by Hanne Timmermans, Lien Tys, Kiana Porte and Annelore Crollet, directed by Daan Borloo. Compagnie Cecilia draws a Wildcard for non-own projects in which she believes, and gives the makers all her productional assets to realize their performance.
