Alex Tambu

Alex Tambu is a musical spirit. Raised in a house full of sounds, he found his way to the piano at the age of three, not to play notes, but to paint colors. For him, music is a palette, the piano his canvas, emotion his brush. He breaks with classical Western traditions and builds his own world: a mix of classical, African rhythms, ambient, neo-classical, and improvisation. His music is a raw, graceful expression of deep emotions: grief, hope, memory, and progress. He writes from experience, from memories and ancestral stories, without sugarcoating anything. Every composition carries a story, and live, he tells it again and again. His concerts are intimate, compelling, and almost hushed, carried by his soft but powerful presence at the piano, harp, and kora. This is music that lingers, that comforts, and that heals! For the concert in Mechelen, he will seek a symbiosis with contemporary poetry and slam through his music.
