Chapel concert / Adinda & Peter Hertmans

Sun, 21 Jun 2026 · 08:30
Kasteel van Gaasbeek, Gaasbeek
€28–48
For the first Chapel Concert this summer, we welcome the young and exceptionally talented jazz singer, songwriter, and Klara-Twintiger Adinda Hertmans, together with her father Peter Hertmans, one of the most respected jazz guitarists in Belgium. In the intimate and inspiring atmosphere of the chapel, they present a program in which Adinda’s original and captivating singer-songwriter songs are central, interspersed with beloved jazz standards and possibly other musical gems that present themselves at the moment. As is typical of the jazz tradition, the repertoire also arises from spontaneity, interaction, and inspiration of the moment. The result promises to be a warm, personal, and authentic musical encounter between two generations of top musicians, carried by a shared love for melody, imagination, and improvisation. Adinda Hertmans (°2001) is a Belgian-Dutch jazz singer, songwriter, and lyricist from Brussels. After studies in jazz vocals at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag, she obtained her master's degree in 2025 at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, where she graduated magna cum laude and received the prestigious Toots Thielemans Jazz Award. In addition, she was selected for De Twintigers van Klara 2026. Adinda performs regularly, including with her Adinda Hertmans Quartet, together with Wajdi Riahi, Fil Caporali, and Daniel Jonkers. She is also working on a new project with pianist Diederik Wissels, the first album of which will be released in 2026. Peter Hertmans (°1960) has been one of the leading figures of Belgian jazz for decades. He worked with artists such as Toots Thielemans, Philip Catherine, Nathalie Loriers, Fabrice Alleman, Michel Herr, and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, and also built an impressive international career as a performer, composer, teacher, and producer. He recorded more than ten albums under his own name and was heard as a guest musician on dozens of other recordings. Until his retirement in 2024, he was associated for more than thirty years with both the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and LUCA School of Arts, where he inspired generations of jazz musicians. As a composer, he received, among other things, the SABAM prize for jazz composition twice and the Gebroeders Darche prize for his entire oeuvre. /// Practical information » Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM » In de Sint-Gertrudis Chapel » Price: € 28 (upper level) / € 48 (ground floor) Non-alcoholic alternative available Program 10:30 AM / 2:30 PM » The castle team welcomes you warmly with a refined glass of champagne from Huis Vossen to start the concert festively. 11:00 AM / 3:00 PM » Intro by Prof. Jeroen D’hoe, composer, pianist, and musicologist » Concert 12:00 PM / 4:00 PM » Champagnebar van Huis Vossen
