Film: Amrum

The twelve-year-old Nanning lives on an idyllic Wadden Island. He hunts seals, fishes and helps on his family's farm. Life seems beautiful and peaceful, but in Berlin the Derde Rijk is in decline. Ook Nannings life slowly begins to feel more complex than it ever was. 'Amrum, 1945' distinguishes itself from other war films by the care with which Nanning's childlike innocence is contrasted with his parents' Nazi convictions - his mother is a fervent supporter of the Nazi regime and his father serves as an SS officer.
