Analog Introspections Exhibition

Analog Introspections

Sun, 2 Aug 2026 · 14:00
Studio Baxton, Brussels
Free
Analog photography is often associated with mastery of technique, technical precision, and the pursuit of the perfect image. Yet, it is also a realm of uncertainty, where chance, materials, and time play a vital role in the creative process. Analog Introspections brings together three perspectives that explore this sensitive dimension of analog photography. Three different approaches, one shared desire: to embrace the unpredictable. Julien Strandt explores the poetry of everyday life through instinctive photography, where light, urban atmospheres, and textures invite silent contemplation. Alain Guillemaud presents a series of Polaroids in which chemical alterations become an integral part of the image. Unpredictable emulsion reactions, chemical deficiencies, and process accidents give rise to unique works, where the material engages in a dialogue with the subject. Camille Saule, for her part, subverts the conventions of "successful" photography. Blurs, hazes, overexposures, and deliberate flaws become tools of expression. By embracing error, she questions our relationship to memory, emotion, and technical perfection. Through these three worlds, Analog Introspections celebrates a vibrant, imperfect, and profoundly human photography, where every accident reveals an element of the unexpected. An invitation to see differently, to slow down, and to rediscover the fragile beauty of analog photography. Opening reception on Thursday, July 23, from 6 p.m.
