Samba & Bossa Nova: Cecilia Peçanha, Rui Salgado, Martin Salemi

Cecilia Peçanha is a Brazilian singer and instrumentalist who lives in Brussels. She sings Samba, Bossa Nova, and Brazilian popular music. Her favorite composers are Tom Jobin, João Bosco, Gilberto Gil, Gaetano Veloso. Her interpretation is authentic and rich, transporting us to the beaches of Rio and evoking the soft and powerful voice of Elis Regina. Cecilia is also an excellent flutist and interprets rhythmic pieces from the Choro and Forro Brésilien repertoire. Her virtuosity is expressed in the compositions of Hermeto Pascoal and Jacob do Bandolim, giving us deep emotions and beautiful soundscapes of Brazil. Rui Salgado is a double bassist/mandolinist who travels between Brazilian sonorities and Jazz. His passion for Bossa Nova and Samba create the bass line and rhythmic chords to accompany Cecilia's voice. During the instrumental pieces, he will use his 10-string mandolin to share the melodies with Cecilia in a counterpoint typical of Brazilian Choro. Martin Salemi is a Jazz pianist from the Brussels scene. He has his own soft and cinematic trio where he expresses Jazz, pop, and Latino colors (Martin Salemi Trio).
