WijSenioren, the seniors working group, would like to invite you for a wonderful afternoon full of humor, music, and Kempen nostalgia. After the overwhelming success of De Kempenkrak, the Vosselaar knife-puller Don Vitalski and Desselse Pezerik Steven Van Gool are joining forces again for a brand-new theater adventure: De Kempenkrak II. A performance that takes you on a whirlwind journey through time through the heart of the Kempen, from the smell of fresh tomatoes in the vegetable garden to the sultry beats of new wave.
What does the verb "stechelen" mean? Why does Wannes Rasp say “kornijn” instead of “konijn”? And how is it that in Brecht one speaks of a "tauter", in Rijkevorsel of a "stuur", and in Olen of a "rijtak"? These and other life-important riddles are finally solved, in a performance where recognizability and healthy madness vie for the crown.
With the glib tongue of master storyteller Vitalski and the musical devilry of Van Gool, this will be a Kempen rollercoaster that makes you laugh, muse, and sing along. An ode to the folk, the absurd, and the moving – with a soundtrack that catapults you straight back to your first party in the parish hall.
De Kempenkrak II is not an ordinary performance. It is an invigorating trip in our very own Kempenland, a celebration of language, music, and memory. Come watch, listen, and experience – because whoever really wants to understand the Kempen must let themselves be immersed in this hilarious, nostalgic, and at times moving narrative.
Admission is free. Registration is possible via senioren@lille.be or 014 75 14 11.
The performance is offered in collaboration with Avansa Kempen
