JEDUTUN - ACROSS THE BORDERS

‘Unique concert in the Sint-Pieterskerk.’ Het Jedutun Ensemble derives its name from the Old Testament figure Jedutun, one of the three music masters appointed by King David to accompany worship with harps and cymbals. In 2000, four driven women find each other during the recording of film music. That is where the seed of the Jedutun Ensemble (flute, violin, viola, and cello) is planted, and the desire grows to deepen and enrich their musical journey together. Their love for chamber music and their quest for greater depth form their driving force. They perform gems from the well-known and lesser-known classical and romantic repertoire and love to be inspired by other genres. From baroque to contemporary, but also musical, tango, folk, and world music: they move effortlessly between styles. In ‘Over the borders’, they take you on a musical journey with work by, among others, Bach, Mozart, Elgar, Jacob, Albéniz, Bartók, R. Abou Khalil, and Mores. The program aligns with the broad theme of migration and explores how composers and their music transcend borders... between countries, cultures, and worldviews.
