Equinox - Abke Haring, Peter Seynaeve, and Koen van Kaam

At an equinox, day and night are of equal length everywhere on earth. This moment of harmony between light and dark also symbolizes balance and renewal at the same time: it invites us to let go of the old and make room for growth and a new beginning. Peter, Abke, and Koen are the only ones left from a more or less Christian non-profit organization from the 1980s. During that period, they moved into an old school building and converted it into a residential group and community center. Their intention: to alleviate the suffering of others and help people where they can. With discussion groups, flea markets, cooking classes, and all kinds of other activities, they offer a healthy counter-sound to things like cruise missiles, Wham, acid rain, and the Cold War. Twice they even made the regional news, and they are proud of that. Now, so many years later, everyone has since left the residential group. Behalve Peter, Abke, and Koen. Every week, on Tuesday evening, they still come together to cook a dinner for those who need it. On stage is a fully equipped kitchen in which the three players prepare an extensive dinner. While cooking for guests who never show up, the drama unfolds. Tongues start wagging, pots are broken, and all three turn out to be, individually and together, completely crazy and unaccountable. But that doesn't matter. It is what it is.
