Festival in East Flanders: Romantic songs by Mahler & Strauss

De Belgische mezzo-soprano Lotte Verstaen shines worldwide in opera houses and concert halls. But she has also pledged her heart to the German romantic lied. With her regular accompanist Peter Jeurissen on piano, she brings a program in which the five famous Rückert Lieder van Gustav Mahler stand alongside five songs by Mahler's wife Alma. Gustav composed the songs on texts by Friedrich Rückert in 1901, the year of their marriage. Alma's songs also date from about that time, but already during the engagement, Gustav asked her to give up composing. In addition, Lotte also sings two songs by one of the very last grandmasters of the genre: Richard Strauss. After the concert, you can enjoy a reception with a drink.
