Vox Luminis
Concert philharmonic | Accueil
Pour the third consecutive year, the three cultural institutions of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve (La Ferme, the SPOTT, and Le Vilar) unite to offer you a grand classical music concert.
The Vox Luminis ensemble tackles a pinnacle of the English repertoire: the semi-opera by Henry Purcell, inspired by the famous legend of King Arthur and his friend Merlin the Enchanter.
With this work, where swirling dances, grandiose choirs, and arias of exuberant inventiveness follow one another, Purcell signs one of the most imaginative and contrasted creations possible, while meeting the expectations and conventions of the audience of his time.
Vox Luminis presents it to us here in a new light. The sonic signature of the singers of the Franco-Belgian ensemble corresponds perfectly to this score, where choirs and highly characterized vocal solos alternate.
Created in 2004, the early music ensemble Vox Luminis, under the direction of Lionel Meunier, specializes in the English, Italian, and German repertoire from the 16th to the early 18th century.
