Yorkshire, 1916. When all the adult men are called to the front, the local choir is in danger of disappearing. To save the choir, the board turns to the inexperienced teenage boys from the village. The difficult task of getting them interested in music is left to Dr. Henry Guthrie, a passionate musician who has just returned from Germany.
